According to a recent Visual Networking Index, India – the second largest smart phone market in the world will have over 651 million smart phone users by 2019. From the time smartphones have flooded the Indian markets; mobile marketing has seen a 10-fold increase in last 5 years.
Increasing Mobilization of Internet
The Indian mobile users have moved from using mobile internet for surfing through the web, to widely using mobile apps as core smartphone utility. The app-usage which was initially just restricted to social media and gaming for communication and entertainment has now spread rapidly to app-based e-commerce and other day-today utilities. Indian mobile-users have today become the fastest growing market for app-based mobile marketing with 131% increase in app-usage in the year 2015, according to a report in Economic Times.
Growing number of Local Business Mobile Apps
Although in the initial years, the Indian app-market was dominated by global apps, the local businesses are fast catching up. Now that getting a quality app made has become affordable owing to native app developers like Appynitty Communications more and more small and mid-sized businesses too are taking up app-based marketing.
With mobile internet networks expanding their reach, businesses have already started targeting their app-development for smaller towns and cities as well by localizing content in preferred language.
Apps make it easy to grab local customers’ attention
App stores are designed to provide localized search results based on the current phone location giving push to mobile apps as a popular way of communicating with the local customers. For local businesses mobile applications provide an affordable, convenient and direct mode of connecting with a niche audience. Thus, different businesses like restaurants, automobile dealers, real estate developers, hospitals, schools and colleges and many more businesses in India that primarily rely on reaching out to local community to flourish, are rapidly adopting mobile-app marketing strategy.
So it’s no surprise that India is the midst of a mobile app revolution and the app-economy is projected to be at a staggering Rs 1,964 crore by end of 2016 according to a study by Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER).
The growth of this economy is expected to be even faster with number of mobile-only internet users on a rapid rise. It is also receiving a boost from the Government of India’s Make in India and Digital India initiatives, inclination of people towards e-commerce and increasing digitization of hyper-local market.
